Last week was another great week in first grade! Here is our newsletter, which includes a few updates about this coming week and what we learned last week. Enjoy! :)
Due to Parent/Teacher Conferences which makes it a “short” week, there will not be a new homework checklist sent home (which means, no spelling test:) We will be reviewing the long vowel pattern CVE and various comprehension and phonics skills. Homework checklists will resume the week of February 26. Please do keep reading with your child as that is part of their daily homework. Please remember that all Six Flags Read to Succeed 6 hours of reading forms are due on Tuesday,February 20. Make sure they have your child’s name and your signature on it. This week, we wrapped up Unit 5 in math with our unit test. The students did awesome! We started Unit 6 which will focus on telling time to the hour and half hour, using fact triangles to generate fact families, and missing addends. Please remember that your child can work on IXL and Xtra Math at home. Progress on both of these programs will be shared with you at conferences. In reading, we read another nonfiction selection, Let’s Go to the Moon! We also continued working on the vce long vowel pattern including doing a two column sort with short o and long o words. Thanks for all you do to help your child be successful in school - we appreciate you! |
